It started at a bar on a cruise ship

January 2024. I had just started as a barkeeper on a cruise ship, and Selina worked at reception. We met at a black-and-white party on my third day.

Then I saw her other side

Selina is tough. She hides pain so well that you only notice when it is really bad. In a homestay on Lombok, the day before her period, she lay in bed the whole day in so much pain that I was already looking up hospitals. We had no idea what to do except wait. Months later in Luxembourg I heard her from upstairs and found her lying on the bathroom floor. Painkillers did nothing. I had to talk her out of going to work and took her to the doctor.

For years, doctors had told her this was normal. Take the pill, they said. Nobody asked more questions.

So we started paying attention

First in the phone's health app: at one point I was logging her period in my own phone, which got dates wrong because I couldn't know exactly how she felt. Then she shared her tracking with me. Better, but there was nowhere to write down what we were trying: the warming cream, only warm food and drinks before her period, rest on the hard days.

And something changed. Selina began to notice her phases. Her energy rose and fell with her cycle, not because she had done something wrong. She started to feel her period coming before any app told her.

That's what OneCycle is for

A place to log pain, flow and energy, see your own patterns, and find ideas for each phase: what to eat, how to move, when to rest. Your cycle isn't a straight line, or a circle that repeats perfectly. It's your one cycle, a little different every month, and worth understanding.

We built it for Selina. Now we want every woman who has been told “that's normal” to have it too.

OneCycle is not a medical device and doesn't diagnose anything. If pain stops you from living your life, please see a doctor, and take your notes with you.
